Swiss software developer Infonautics created My Menu Explorer because it wanted to offer an alternative to all the Windows users out there who were not content with Microsoft’s Start Menu. My Menu Explorer lets you create your own custom menu, lets you access everything from the existing Start Menu, and provides seamless access to useful tools like the Task Manager and Control Panel.

My Menu Explorer is available as an installer and it is available as a portable version. Both are available in English, German, and French; but mind you, My Menu Explorer’s detailed and comprehensive manual (PDF format) is available in English only. Once you get My Menu Explorer up and running, you can use it for free for a trial period of 30 days.

My Menu Explorer’s interface is divided into two panels: groups to the left, group items/objects to the right. Buttons for all the features and functions that My Menu Explorer has to offer are presented on the far left, as you can see in the Quick Look video that accompanies this article.

Here’s a quick look at the main things you can achieve with My Menu Explorer: create a custom My Own Menu that includes any group and any object you want; view and manage items from the Windows Start Menu; view recently started objects and recently opened documents; view objects as icons or as a list; bookmark objects; pin My Menu Explorer to the taskbar; create a My Menu Explorer shortcut on the desktop; open Windows Explorer; access the Control Panel; view Devices and Printers; open Run; launch the Task Manager; shut down, lock, log off, sleep, restart the PC.

My Menu Explorer, as mentioned above, is free to use for a trial period of 30 days. I bring this up again to add this: a prompt will show up every time you launch the trial, tell you how many days are left in your trial, and invite you to buy a license.

My Menu Explorer can prove to be a very useful alternative to Microsoft’s Start Menu.

Pros

My Menu Explorer is available as an installer and as a portable version; both are available in English, German, and French. There’s a detailed manual in English, in PDF format. My Menu Explorer has a very simple interface. Create a custom My Own Menu. Access Windows features like Run, the Task Manager, and the Control Panel.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, nag screen. Click the red X button from the upper right hand corner and My Menu Explorer will minimize, it will not close; to close My Menu Explorer, you must click the Exit button from the lower left hand side.
